We are thrilled to announce that The Island Between Tides will make its Canadian debut at the Calgary International Film Festival! We’re excited to share that Adam Scorgie, played a small but meaningful role in this incredible production as executive producer. The film, a captivating supernatural thriller, will be showcased at Calgary’s Globe Theatre on September 20th at 6:30 PM. Directors Austin Andrews and Andrew Holmes will be in attendance, along with lead actor Paloma Kwiatkowski (Riot Girls) and Adam Scorgie himself.
Adam Scorgie expressed his enthusiasm about the project:
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to executive produce Island Between Tides alongside the incredibly talented Andrew Holmes and Austin Andrews. Their vision and passion for storytelling are truly inspiring, and it’s been exciting to help bring such a unique and visually stunning project to life. This film captures the beauty and mystery of the human spirit in ways that will resonate deeply with audiences. I’m proud to have been part of this journey and can’t wait for the world to experience what we’ve created together.”
The Island Between Tides is a feature adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s gothic bedtime story Mary Rose, a tale that has intrigued Hollywood for decades. With an impressive cast including Paloma Kwiatkowski, Donal Logue (Sons of Anarchy), David Mazouz (Gotham), Camille Sullivan (Hunter Hunter), and Golden Globe nominee Adam Beach (The Power of the Dog), this film is set to make a strong impact. XYZ Films is handling worldwide sales.
Set against the rugged beauty of the Alaskan border, The Island Between Tides follows Lily (Kwiatkowski), a young woman who follows a mysterious melody to a remote tidal island. When she returns, she finds herself in a world where decades have passed, leaving her forever changed but unharmed.
This film marks the first feature adaptation of Mary Rose, a story described by The New York Times as a “more mature” reworking of Barrie’s Peter Pan. The film's journey includes an intriguing backstory, including Alfred Hitchcock’s failed attempt to bring it to the big screen and later interest from Tippi Hedren’s daughter, Melanie Griffith, and her husband Antonio Banderas.
Produced by Flicker Theory, Famous Red Car, and Mad Samurai Productions, with writing, directing, and producing by Andrew Holmes and Austin Andrews, The Island Between Tides features Matthew Cervi and Josh Huculiak as producers, Morgana Wyllie and Amber Ripley as co-producers, and Darren Benning, James Tocher, Michael Shepard, and Adam Scorgie as executive producers.
We’re especially proud that The Island Between Tides is the very first film to be shot in the northern Canadian port city of Prince Rupert. We extend our thanks to Telefilm Canada for their support in making this project possible.
We hope you’ll join us at the Calgary International Film Festival to experience this unique and captivating film! which you can grab tickets for here: https://bit.ly/4cUCygd
