Funny Money Hits L.A. – And Now We’re Bringing It Home

Last Friday was one of those nights you make films for.

It was a beautiful, sunny, late-summer California evening when Funny Money: The Dane Cook Story had its world premiere at the historic Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, hosted in conjunction with American Cinematheque. Sold out. Packed with media, fellow filmmakers, comedians, and Dane’s family...the ones who didn’t steal from him.

As Dane put it, it felt a bit like The Rocky Horror Picture Show. People were shouting at the screen the whole way through. Tears. Gasps. A lot of laughs. The room was alive in a way you can’t fake and you can’t stream.

Huge shoutout to the roast master himself, Jeff Ross, for showing up.

Dane said it was a highlight of his career; getting to sit in a packed theatre and watch so many people enjoy his life story live, in real time. For us as filmmakers, even when you know a film is going to land, there is still nothing like hearing that response in person. The laughs, the silence, the hits. It still gives us shivers every time.

Now we’re thrilled to bring the film home for the Canadian Premiere / EIFF Closing Night

Friends, family, and the hometown crowd. There are only a handful of tickets left!

🗓️ Saturday, October 3rd

⏰ 6:30 PM

📍 Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre, Theatre 1Edmonton

Can’t wait to see you all there.
